Randy joined Pacific Defense in April 2023 and leads our Engineering teams comprised of Enterprise Software, Hardware, Modular Products, Embedded Systems, Systems Engineering Integration & Test as well as Mission Solutions Engineering for EWSA, Space Systems, and Integrated CMOSS. He brings over 20 years of defense industry experience.
Randy was formerly a Director of Engineering, Deputy Mission Area Chief Engineer (MACE) for Space System within Space & C2, part of Raytheon Intelligence & Space. The mission area spans a diverse set of sensor payload system designs from EO/IR to RF. Prior to taking the role of Deputy MACE in April 2022, he was the Chief Engineer on a key proprietary space program (Gladiator).
Before rejoining Space in 2020, he was the Next Generation Jammer (NGJ) ALQ-249(V)1 Program Chief Engineer from 2016 through 2022 leading the program through the Engineering, Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase with successful delivery of the two Design Test / Operational Test (DT/OT) flight pods to NAVAIR PMA-234. Between 2015 to 2016, Randy also held the position of System Engineering IPTL leading the program through Preliminary Design Review and successful Milestone B Decision with NAVAIR.
Prior to NGJ, from 2011 to 2015, Randy held the position of Chief Engineer for the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Joint Polar Satellite System-1 (JPSS-1) Program delivering the second flight payload to NASA. During this period, he also was the Chief Engineer for the Suomi National Polar-Orbiting Partnership (S-NPP) VIIRS payload during the on-orbit check-out of and transition to operational to NOAA.
Randy’s early career was focused on electrical circuit card designs and firmware design for military anti-jam GPS receivers.
His bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science is from the University of California at Berkeley, and his master’s degree in electrical engineering is from the University of Southern California.
