Chief Strategy Officer, Spectranetix

Rick Lu has been an executive and technical manager of military wireless companies in the aerospace & defense Industry for almost 30 years, specifically in the Communications/Electronic Warfare/C5ISR industry. He is currently the Chief Strategy Officer and a member of the Board of Directors for Pacific Defense. Rick helps shape the company’s technology roadmap to be lockstep with our DoD and customer needs. In addition, Rick is one of the heads of our congressional and government affairs group for the corporation.

Rick was formerly the co-founder and President & CEO of Spectranetix Inc., which was acquired by Pacific Defense in 2000 and remains today as a centerpiece of the company. Based in silicon valley, Spectranetix specialized in building Electronic Warfare, SIGINT, and C5ISR technologies. It was known for being a quick reaction, cutting edge engineering house for wireless systems. Spectranetix was a foundational pioneer in both the CMOSS and SOSA military electronics standards for the DoD. Prior to Spectranetix, Rick was the co-founder and President & CEO of NetworkFab Corporation, which was acquired by Agilent Technologies in 2007. NetworkFab also built modular open architecture EW, SIGINT, and DF systems for the DoD.

Rick holds 3 advanced engineering degrees, a BS in Electrical Engineering from UCLA, an MS in Aero/Astro Engineering from Stanford University, and a second MS in Engineering Management also from Stanford University. He also serves as a special assistant to the Association of Crows (AOC) board of directors, advising on financial and treasury issues as well as the industry trade association’s congressional affairs. He is also a high tech start-up investor and a member of silicon valley’s Band of Angels.
